Since I was banging on about this Jadis painting being a repaint I decided to compare it with the original. I was never 100% happy with the original but I did think it was alright when I did it.. which is kind of worrying!

Obviously I can see considerable improvement in such a short space of time which is obviously quite reassuring, but at the same time how bad will this new one look in another 3 months? It is quite concerning that I'm sending pieces of work out into the void that look awful (looking back on them) only to replace them with better work that may not be seen!

Either way, the only way is up! I'm constantly striving to get better and one day I hope to be churning out work that doesn't age quite as badly as my May 2015 one!

 

I did this comparison painting a while back as well and its such a fantastic feeling to have it laid out in front of you how much you've improved. I think artists should do this more often- its also useful for others to see that even the greatest had to start somewhere.
